Building a synthesizer, chapter 1.
I started with the keys.
At different stages of the realisation process, I encountered errors. While the logical approach would have been to fix them, I deliberately chose not to.
I was interested in following a path that defied logic and compelled me to think of new solutions and to take new routes.
I was also drawn to exploring the imperfections within serial production, which, despite being driven by machines, relies on human design, operation, and maintenance. And through this exploration, I sought to establish a parallel with universal, everyday emotions such as struggle, emptiness, solitude, and freedom, synthesizing them to their minimal possible expression.
A keyboard like this would be impossible to make, impossible to play, and apparently meaningless.
